Job summary

CHS Career Site is seeking a PRN Medical Technologist I to perform routine and specialized moderate and high complexity laboratory tests on blood and body fluids. The role supports patient care through accurate results, instrument troubleshooting, and data collection for regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities include instrument maintenance, quality control, and collaborating with healthcare staff to ensure timely reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field required.
• Passing score on the Clinical Laboratory Technology Proficiency exam approved by HHS (HEW).
• 0-2 years acute care experience required.

Responsibilities

• Performs moderate and high complexity laboratory tests accurately and efficiently, ensuring timely reporting of results with documentation.
• Adheres to quality control procedures by performing checks, analyzing data, troubleshooting out-of-range results, and taking corrective actions.
• Conducts instrument function checks and preventative maintenance per policy.
• Troubleshoots instrument malfunctions and coordinates with appropriate personnel or vendor as needed.
• Ensures compliance with safety regulations and uses PPE per Laboratory Safety Plan.
• Communicates results and issues with peers and healthcare staff in a timely manner.
• Assists with proficiency testing and data collection for accreditation.
• Collects chain-of-custody urine drug screens and performs phlebotomy duties as required.
• Collaborates with team to complete shift duties efficiently.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Maintains regular attendance and adheres to policies.
