Job summary

Northwest Florida Community Hospital is seeking a PRN Medical Technologist to join its Laboratory team. The role involves performing complex testing across chemistry, hematology, microbiology, and more, with emphasis on accuracy and timely results for patient care.

The ideal candidate holds a Florida Medical Technologist license, has strong analytical and communication skills, and can work independently within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field from an accredited program.
• Current Florida Medical Technologist License required.
• ASCP, AMT, or equivalent certification preferred; hospital lab experience helpful.

Responsibilities

• Perform testing in chemistry, hematology, coagulation, immunology, microbiology, blood bank, and urinalysis.
• Analyze and verify patient test results for accuracy and reliability.
• Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain instruments and equipment.
• Document quality control and assurance procedures.
• Communicate critical results promptly per policy.
• Collect and handle patient specimens as needed.
• Adhere to safety, infection control, and biohazard protocols.
• Maintain LIS documentation and inventory of supplies.
• Participate in proficiency testing and continuing education.
• Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission, AHCA, OSHA regulations.
