Job summary

PMR Healthcare is seeking friendly, experienced PRN medical team members in Mt. Vernon, IN. The clinic provides primary and occupational care to employees and families, operating Monday–Friday with no weekend shifts or rotations.

As a PRN Medical Assistant, you will greet patients, manage check-ins, assist providers during exams, perform venipunctures and Point of Care tests, prepare specimens, and document in the EMR. Training and clinical guidance are provided to deliver high-quality care.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of Medical Assisting experience.
• Phlebotomy skills preferred.
• Proficient with basic computer systems.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and manage check-ins/outs, handling inquiries.
• Answer calls and emails to schedule patients per policy.
• Assist providers during examinations and prepare specimens.
• Perform Point of Care tests, venipunctures, EKGs, and related tasks.
• Maintain a safe, clean work environment and EMR documentation.
• Keep certifications up to date and uphold PMR standards.

Position Overview

The private PMR Clinic you will support in this position provides primary and occupational care to the employees and families of one of PMR Healthcare's clients. The clinic operates Monday through Friday, with no weekend shifts or rotations, and is closed on holidays.

Employees will receive comprehensive site-specific training, ongoing support, and clinical guidance directly from PMR Healthcare to ensure they are well-equipped to provide high-quality care in the clinic setting.

Job Responsibilities

• Patient Hospitality: Greet patients, manage check-ins and check-outs, and handle inquiries both in person and over the phone.
• Scheduling & Communication: Professionally answer the phone and emails following PMR policy to schedule patients, follow-up on specialist appointments, or referral inquiries.
• Support Patient Care: Assist providers during examinations; prepare laboratory specimens; perform Point of Care tests; administer and dispense medications; call prescriptions to pharmacies; perform venipunctures, spirometry tests, EKG, and Visual Acuity; etc. as needed.
• Clinic Preparation:Maintain a safe, clean work environment; refreshing and preparing exam rooms between visits and following procedures for inventory control.
• Documentation: Complete all documentation required by PMR within the designated EMR.
• Update Professional Knowledge:Maintain all required certification(s).

Hiring Requirements

• 1+ years of relevant work experience in Medical Assisting
• Strong phlebotomy and blood-drawing skills and experience preferred.
• Computer competency required
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Self motivated; able to perform duties with minimal supervision
• Strong interpersonal skills; able to calmly respond to patient questions/concerns and build relationships
