Job description

PRN Medical Assistant (Floater)- Central/North Austin

Come join our team! We are hiring for a PRN Medical Assistant.

Texas Health Action is seeking PRN Medical Assistant to work as needed at our Central Austin Kind Clinic and aid with the delivery of patient care during the respective clinic hours of operation. This role will report to the Clinic Administrator.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Room and prepare patients for visits, obtain and record medical histories, and record vital signs.
  2. Assist with phlebotomy, lab specimen processing, dispense medication, and provide STI treatments including injections, following clinician directives and Standing Delegation Orders (SDOs).
  3. Act as liaison between laboratory, clinician, and patients; evaluate provider requests for accuracy and handle specimens per protocol.
  4. Maintain cleanliness and stock exam rooms; monitor inventory and verify receipt of supplies.
  5. Implement infection control measures and maintain confidentiality per HIPAA and clinic policies.
  6. Complete annual clinical competencies and participate in meetings and team activities.

Compensation:

Hourly rate of $20.80, based on duties and requirements.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program, military medical training, or equivalent experience.
  • Phlebotomy Certification and BLS Certification within 90 days of hire.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.
  • Experience in HIV testing, STI testing, and working with diverse populations, including LGBTQ+.
  • Knowledge of infection control and CLIA-waived laboratory testing.
