Work Schedule: As Needed- Nights

Position Summary
Under the direction of the Department Director and/or Charge Nurse, the Registered Nurse provides safe, high-quality, and compassionate nursing care to neonatal patients. Responsibilities include:

  1. Delivering direct and indirect professional nursing care
  2. Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating healthcare needs for all assigned patients
  3. Caring for infant to geriatric patients, unless otherwise specified
  4. Collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to meet unit and hospital goals
  5. Maintaining a customer-focused approach while providing evidence-based care
  6. Willingness to float to other comparable nursing units, as needed

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, the candidate must meet each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities.

  1. Strong knowledge of general nursing theories and practices
  2. Prior hospital experience preferred, specifically in Level II/III Nursery care
  3. Effective at motivating and supervising others
  4. Uses initiative and independent judgment within scope of nursing practice
  5. Demonstrates strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  7. Maintains confidentiality and discretion at all times
  8. Exercises tact and diplomacy with physicians, patients, families, and team members
  9. Flexible with irregular schedules, including weekends and holidays
  10. Able to function in the Charge Nurse role, as needed

Education & Certifications

  1. Current, unrestricted RN license in the State of South Carolina
  2. One year of experience in a Level II or Level III Nursery preferred
  3. BSN preferred
  4. Completion of nursing service orientation program
  5. Completion of IV Therapy training or demonstration of IV competency within one year
  6. Current BCLS certification (required)
  7. NRP certification – must be obtained during orientation
  8. STABLE certification – required during orientation or within 6 months of hire
  9. Advanced specialty certification and/or participation in professional organizations encouraged
