Alto Wheaton is seeking a dependable PRN Wellness Nurse (LPN or RN) for weekend shifts in our Assisted Living community. With two shift options and weekend-only scheduling, this is an ideal opportunity for a licensed nurse looking for consistent supplemental income without a weekday commitment.
1st Shift | 7:00am–3:00pm | Weekends
2nd Shift | 3:00pm–11:00pm | Weekends
What You'll Do:
- Provide clinical oversight and nursing care for Assisted Living residents
- Administer medications and treatments per physician orders and care plans
- Monitor resident health and respond promptly to changes in condition
- Supervise and support non-licensed care associates on your shift
- Be the calm, capable clinical presence residents count on every weekend
What You Bring:
- Active LPN or RN license in good standing in Illinois — required
- At least 1 year of senior living experience — preferred but not required
- Strong clinical judgement and compassionate, resident-centered approach
- Dependable and available for consistent weekend shifts

Wellness Nurse
The Wellness Nurse supports the delivery of resident care and services in accordance with applicable regulations, accepted standards of nursing practice, and Allegro Living policies. This role provides clinical support, administers medications, monitors resident wellness, supports team member supervision, completes documentation, and communicates with residents, families, physicians, pharmacies, and outside providers.
The Wellness Nurse promotes a safe, supportive, resident-centered environment while helping ensure timely documentation, quality outcomes, and compliance with Company policies and state requirements. The ideal candidate is compassionate, organized, collaborative, and committed to serving seniors with professionalism and sound nursing judgment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide daily supervision and guidance to assigned non-licensed team members and other designated personnel in meeting residents’ needs.
- Monitor resident wellness, identify changes in condition, and respond appropriately to medication needs or other circumstances requiring additional care.
- Provide resident care in accordance with provider orders, regulatory requirements, recognized nursing practice, established standards, and Allegro Living policy.
- Accurately administer prescribed medications and support the continuity of resident care.
- Make work assignments, support team members, and help identify opportunities to improve resident care and services.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, team members, physicians, pharmacies, professional consultants, and third-party providers to support coordinated care.
- Provide first aid as required and complete assigned duties in accordance with Company procedures.
- Participate in required meetings and in-service training sessions, including Relias training, in accordance with state guidelines and Company requirements.
- Support compliance with residents’ rights requirements and report observed or suspected violations immediately.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
- Licensed Practical Nurse in good standing with the applicable state licensing agency, as required by state regulations.
- CPR/AED certification required.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse in a senior care setting preferred.
- Previous experience with computerized resident documentation systems preferred.
- General understanding of, and concern for, the needs of seniors.
- Experience supporting residents with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, or memory impairment preferred.
- Ability to work well with others and promote a team-oriented environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional composure in stressful or challenging conditions.
- Must be at least 18 years of age. State-specific guidelines may apply.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record in accordance with Company requirements, when driving responsibilities are assigned.
