Job description

Responsible for the provision of breast-feeding education, counseling and care, telephone and outpatient consultation. To support the mother who provides breast-feeding as infant nutritional support. Works closely with the health care team to provide multi-disciplinary services to lactating mothers and their families. Provides education toward planning, implementing and evaluating lactation needs of new parents and their families. This is a non-RN position.

Minimum Requirements:
  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college preferred.
  • Two years of current lactation education required.
  • Specialty certification for assigned unit (NRP, BCLS and IBCLC) required.
  • Ability to observe, assess, and record work, safety and infection control standards.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
  • Ability to resolve customer complaints and concerns.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA standards and regulations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to show compassion and sensitivity for patient comfort.
