Job summary

Medical City Denton is seeking an ICU Registered Nurse for a seasonal PRN assignment. You will coordinate and deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in collaboration with the care team, following established nursing models.

The role requires ICU experience, ADN license (BSN preferred), and ACLS/BLS within specified timeframes. Minimum 72 hours per pay period, with weekend requirements and potential cross-facility float.

Qualifications

• 1 year of ICU experience required.
• ACLS must be obtained within 90 days of start date.
• BLS must be obtained within 30 days of start date.
• (RN) Registered Nurse, Associate Degree required; BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient-centered care in ICU per department standards.
• Document care in the patient record timely and thoroughly.
• Educate patients and families on condition, plan, meds and follow-up.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate care.
• Promote evidence-based practices and quality improvement.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.

• • Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Teaches patients/families/caregivers about patient medical condition, patient status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures. Translates complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.
  • Teaches patients/families/caregivers about any non-medicinal follow-up measures, such as healthy diet and exercise, disease prevention, and/or other lifestyle changes. Prepares patients and families/caregivers for future self-management.
  • Manages evidence-based practices and continuous process improvement initiatives to meet and exceed quality measures and enhance the exceptional care provided to patients.
  • Manages the quality of care by collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate, evaluate, customize, and deliver a holistic patient treatment plan that promotes and supports recovery.

What qualifications you will need:

• 1 year of ICU experience required
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• (RN) Registered Nurse, Associate Degree required, BSN preferred

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

All seasonal RNs are required to work a minimum of 72 hours per pay period during the seasonal period.

Within a close geography, you may be asked to float to another facility that has an emergent staffing need.

Four (4) weekend shifts are required each 4 week schedule period.

During the course of the 32-week period, the employee is required to work two (2) holiday shifts (defined by Department Manager or designee).

Seasonal Staff are PRN status employees and are subject to first call-off. There are no guaranteed hours by the hospital.

Seasonal Staff will not be eligible for extra shift bonuses (D1/CND or D2/ECD)

Registered Nurses who are in the Seasonal program will have one opportunity to pass the clinical competency evaluation.

Current FT/PT & PRN employees are not eligibleto join the Seasonal program for 2026--27 with the exception of RNs that participated in the Seasonal program in the previous year.

Current employees of HWS arenot eligiblefor the seasonal program.

Shifts may vary based on the needs of the department.
