Job summary

Memorial Health System in Marietta, OH is seeking a PRN Phlebotomist to join our clinical support team. This role collects blood samples from patients of all ages, labels specimens, and maintains supplies in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Responsibilities include prioritizing STAT and routine draws, operating portable devices, and assisting with training new staff. A high school diploma or GED is required; phlebotomy certification and BLS are preferred and may be obtained during orientation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent required.
• Phlebotomy Certification preferred.
• Phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required for position – will obtain during hospital orientation.
• Maintains compliance in RQI required.

Responsibilities

• Obtains blood samples for analysis in all areas of the hospital on patients of all ages.
• Prioritizes STAT, urgent, timed and routine orders ensuring that draws are collected at the appropriate times.
• Maintains adequate stock of supplies including stocking carts and notifying supervisor if supplies need to be ordered.
• Labels tubes appropriately and accurately.
• Properly collects Blood Bank specimens and completes Blood Bank Bracelets.
• Troubleshoots hand held devices and printers when needed.
• Assists with training new phlebotomy employees and students.
• Cleans lab equipment including carts, hand helds, and printers.
• Reviews and signs all electronic document control records as assigned.
