What Health System Pharmacy contributes to Cardinal Health

Pharmacy Operations is responsible for the safe, efficient, and effective coordination of Cardinal Health's pharmacy operations serving acute care hospitals, hospital retail customers, ambulatory care, and other healthcare facilities.

Health System Pharmacy provides customized pharmacy solutions that reduce costs and improve patient care quality for hospitals and healthcare providers. It also involves consulting with healthcare teams on medications and supplies.

Cardinal Health manages the pharmacy at PAM Specialty Hospital of Sarasota. We are recruiting for a PRN Pharmacy Technician to work as needed, covering vacation/PTO and sick time. Hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00AM to 4:30PM.

Job Summary

The Technician II, Health Systems Pharmacy assists pharmacists in daily operations, including prescription preparation, inventory management, and record-keeping, ensuring compliance with regulations and company guidelines. The role involves communication with customers to ensure accurate order fulfillment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists in filling prescriptions as permitted by state law.
  • Prepare medications for dispensing and shipment.
  • Manage inventory, place orders, stock shelves, and remove outdated items.
  • Enter medical supply orders into the pharmacy system.
  • Communicate professionally with patients, clinics, and physicians.
  • Process medication returns for credit or destruction.
  • Input patient and prescription data into the pharmacy system.
  • Follow all pharmacy laws and regulations.

Qualifications

  • Florida State Pharmacy Technician license/registration required.
  • IV experience and inpatient hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
  • National pharmacy technician certification (PTCB) if applicable.
  • Flexible schedule and ability to work in a team.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Comfortable with repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to multitask, focus, and exercise judgment.
  • Proficient with computers, smartphones, and tablets.
  • Credentialing requirements including vaccinations may apply.

  • Learn and apply new information and methods.
  • Maintain necessary licenses and certifications.
  • Work on routine assignments with some problem resolution.
  • Follow standard operating procedures and quality guidelines.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Estimated hourly range: $18.10 - $25.80
  • Not bonus eligible
  • Benefits include paid time off per law.
