Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Grossing Histotechnologist to join our Dallas, TX team on a 3rd shift PRN schedule. The role focuses on processing human tissue and body fluids for microscopic examination, producing histology slides, and performing immunohistochemistry on FFPE samples.

The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in Histology or related field with 2+ years of histology experience, ASCP certification preferred, and be highly organized with attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Histology or a related Chemical/Biological science with 2+ years in histology.

Responsibilities

• Process human tissue and body fluid specimens in preparation for microscopic exam.
• Perform technical duties related to production of histopathological slides.
• Section embedded tissue using a microtome and mount sections on slides.
• Perform immunohistochemical tests on FFPE tissue sections.
• Process sections through routine and special staining procedures.
• Orient and embed surgical tissue specimens accurately.
• Prepare stains and reagents for special procedures.
• Document test results for timely patient care.
• Operate and maintain manual and automated instruments.
• Record equipment log data and perform preventive maintenance.

Labcorp is seeking a Grossing Histotechnologist to join our team in Dallas, TX.

Work Schedule:

3rd shift PRN

Job Responsibilities

• Process human tissue and body fluid specimens in preparation for microscopic exam
• Perform technical duties related to the production of histopathological slides of surgical specimens
• Section the embedded tissue, using a microtome and mount the section properly on a microscope slide
• Perform various immunohistochemical tests on formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue sections
• Process mounted sections through routine and special staining procedures
• Properly orient and embed surgical tissue specimens
• Prepare the stains and reagents needed for special procedures
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
• Operate and maintain manual and automated instruments
• Perform and document equipment maintenance as needed
• Record equipment log data in an accurate and timely manner
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
• Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies
• Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, analysis and reporting
• Document problems that may affect test performance and perform corrective actions as needed

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Histology OR a Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Histology, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology with 2 or more years of histology experience

Preferred Qualification

• Current or prior Labcorp experience
• Histology and/or ASCP certifications
• 2 years or more experience in Histology
• 1 years or more of grossing experience

Additional Job Standards

• Familiarity with routine histology procedures and equipment
• Immunohistochemistry experience
• Comfortability embedding both large and small specimens
• Ability to accurately read all labels and documents
• Highly organized with a strong attention to detail
• Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment
• Familiarity with laboratory SOPs and safety protocols
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
