Are you passionate about providing exceptional food service and ensuring a clean, safe environment for patients and visitors? Penn Medicine is seeking dedicated Food Service Associates to join our team. As a Food Service Associate, you will play a vital role in preparing and distributing food, maintaining equipment, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Food Handling: Prepare and serve simple hot and cold food items to patients, visitors, and hospital staff. Ensure all food is prepared and maintained according to HACCP procedures. Date and label all products in your work area and handle foods and equipment properly to ensure infection control and safety.
  • Clean/Organized Environment: Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary work area at all times. Clean equipment, tables, food service areas, and production areas using appropriate chemicals and procedures. Reassemble equipment after cleaning. Sanitize all service ware, pots, walls, floors, ceilings, and related areas using power equipment like dishwashers and floor scrubbers.
  • Resource Management: Manage services, supplies, and equipment to ensure effective and economical use, especially in portioning and storing food. Be accountable for equipment provided on the job, such as knives and aprons. Demonstrate neat and orderly receiving, issuing, and rotating of stock and food supplies.
  • Retail/Customer Service: Understand and meet the individual needs of patients and customers in a friendly and competent manner. Maintain a pleasant disposition even in adverse circumstances. Accurately manage money when working the registers and be accountable for receipts, merchandise, and Health System property and equipment.
  • Compliance: Perform duties in accordance with city and state Health Codes and Joint Commission regulations. Follow HACCP guidelines throughout your daily routine. Practice personal hygiene according to dress code standards and report potential infection control issues or violations to your supervisor promptly.
