Job summary

Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis, MO, is seeking an EEG/EMG Technologist (PRN) to perform routine and complex EEGs, EMG, NCV, and evoked potential tests. You will document histories, apply electrodes, and troubleshoot artifacts in a busy neurodiagnostic lab.

The role offers PRN flexibility, collaboration with neurologists, and opportunities to maintain and expand specialty skills in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• CPR Certification is required.
• Previous patient care experience is preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
• Experience with medically complex patients is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and complex EEG recordings according to established standards.
• Obtain and document patient histories, diagnoses, and medication information.
• Apply electrodes using the International 10-20 system.
• Identify and troubleshoot artifacts to ensure high-quality recordings.
• Conduct activation procedures including photic stimulation, hyperventilation, and eye-opening/closing protocols.
• Prepare recordings for physician interpretation and enter findings into the EMR.
• Assist neurologists during EMG and NCV procedures.
• Educate patients before testing and document results accurately.
• Support EEG telemetry monitoring and evoked potential studies.
