Qualifications

  • Certificate of Completion in Radiologic Technology.
  • High School Graduate.
  • Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program meeting ARDMS requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations, using cognitive skills to identify, document, and adapt examinations; differentiates normal vs pathological findings and communicates results to radiologist.
  • Ensures patient safety and comfort; identifies patient with two identifiers; explains examinations and answers questions.
  • Operates imaging equipment safely; coordinates examinations to minimize patient stay in hospital.
  • Maintains equipment and performs QC; reports malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Interacts with physicians and staff to provide safe, efficient patient care.
  • Supports education of sonography students and residents as appropriate.

Education

Certificate of Completion in Radiologic Technology
High School Graduate
Graduate of Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program (ARDMS requirements)
