Job Summary and Qualifications

The Food and Nutrition Services Cook assists in the preparation of cooked foods for our patients, visitors, and colleagues. The Line Cook provides food that is safe, unadulterated, attractive, and prepared within the guidelines of the Texas Department of Health, Medicare, and JCAHO. The hospital dining schedule features hours and shifts that create a great work-life balance. Your food service experience and commitment to service, safety, and professionalism will contribute to a positive experience for our patients, visitors, and colleagues.

What you will do in this role:

  • Prepares both cold and hot menu items according to standard recipes for patients, employees, cafeteria customers, physicians, community agencies, and catering events.
  • Maintains equipment in the kitchen to standard.
  • Assists in storage of deliveries.
  • Maintains kitchen area to state-required sanitary standards.
  • Completes all tasks on duty while adhering to safety standards and policies of the hospital.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Registered Food Service Manager (RFSM), or Food Safety Manager must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • 2 years of experience required.
