Role Overview

Chaplains provide spiritual support to patients, families, and caregivers, facilitating spiritual healing and enhancing well-being. In this role, you will impact lives profoundly and make lifelong differences. Join Cleveland Clinic to help deliver the best healthcare experience.

Schedule & Location

This role requires availability from 4:00 PM–8:00 AM on weekdays and 24-hour availability on weekends, with approximately 26 hours of on-call coverage every two weeks. Additional shifts and PTO coverage may be available.

Candidates must reside within 30 minutes of Fairview Hospital. A monthly scheduling meeting is held at 12 PM on the first Wednesday of each month, which you are expected to attend.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide education and consultation for physicians, nurses, and other caregivers.
• Offer spiritual care and counseling for patients, families, and caregivers of all faiths, ages, and conditions.
• Foster spiritual resources for healing.
• Provide crisis intervention and ongoing care.
• Work regular and on-call hours.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Divinity or equivalent preferred.
• Completion of at least four (4) units of Clinical Pastoral Education.
• Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree, three years of ministry experience, and 1-2 units of Clinical Pastoral Education, with a goal to complete four (4) CPEs within two years of hire.

Additional Requirements

• Fluency in English.
• Credentialing, certification, or eligibility within two years by a certifying organization, or certification as an ACPE educator.
• Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work independently.
• Ability to work in stressful environments.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Minimum of one (1) year of ministry experience.
• Physical ability to sit or stand for extended periods, climb stairs, and assist patient movement.
• Normal or corrected vision and hearing.
• Adherence to standard precautions and use of personal protective equipment as required.
