Job summary

Eskenazi Health seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist I (CST I) to assist in surgical procedures, manage sterile technique, and maintain the sterile field in the operating room. The CST I will support instrument handling, patient positioning, and perioperative duties under the surgical team.

Responsibilities include ensuring instrument sterility, preparing rooms, labeling specimens, and assisting with patient safety and comfort during procedures.

Qualifications

• Current CST certification through NBSTSA is required.
• Active CST certification through NBSTSA and ongoing continuing education is expected.

Responsibilities

• Performs assigned surgical procedures and preparations with the total surgical team.
• Maintains sterile technique and environment.
• Prepares operating room with supplies, equipment, and instrumentation.
• Ensures sterility of instruments and supplies.
• Assists with patient positioning and comfort measures.
• Gowns and gloved personnel; prepares sterile field and drapes.
• Handles, passes, and catalogs instruments; communicates with the surgeon.
• Supports laboratory and theater routines as assigned.
• Completes duties including lab checks, specimen handling, and recording counts.
