PRN / As-Needed | Flexible Shifts | Day, Evening, Overnight & Weekend Opportunities
Pay: $16.00–$18.00 per hour
A Flexible Caregiver Role for Dependable Professionals
Griswold Home Care for Oklahoma City North is building a dependable PRN caregiver team to support client call-outs, new client starts, schedule gaps, short-term needs, weekends, evenings, and other as-needed assignments. This role is ideal for experienced caregivers who want flexibility while still being part of a professional home-care team.
PRN caregivers work on an as-needed basis. Hours are not guaranteed, and available assignments may vary from week to week. Once you accept an assignment, you are expected to report on time, remain for the full scheduled shift, follow the client's care plan, and communicate promptly with the Griswold office.
Why Join Our PRN Team?
- Choose from available assignments that fit your stated availability.
- Opportunity to pick up additional hours when your schedule allows.
- Weekly pay.
- Ongoing training and professional development.
- Employee recognition, bonuses, discounts, and advancement opportunities where available.
- Opportunity to be considered for regular part-time or full-time schedules as consistent openings become available.
What You Will Do
- Provide companionship and meaningful interaction.
- Assist with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, feeding, mobility, and other activities of daily living as assigned.
- Prepare meals, assist with groceries, complete laundry, change linens, wash dishes, and perform light housekeeping consistent with the care plan.
- Provide attentive supervision and redirection for clients with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, memory loss, or cognitive impairment when assigned.
- Observe and promptly report changes in a client's condition, behavior, safety, or environment.
- Complete accurate and timely shift documentation.
- Follow client-specific care instructions and contact the Griswold office when a request or situation is unclear.
What Success Looks Like
- You are dependable and do not accept shifts you are unlikely to keep.
- You arrive on time and remain engaged throughout the entire assignment.
- You take appropriate initiative and do not wait to be reminded about routine responsibilities.
- You respect each client's preferences, routines, dignity, and home.
- You accept reasonable direction from clients, family members, and the Griswold office professionally.
- You remain attentive to clients who require supervision and respond promptly to safety concerns.
- You communicate early if an issue arises instead of leaving the client or office surprised.
PRN Availability Expectations
PRN status is designed for flexibility, but reliability remains essential. Candidates will be asked to provide their normal availability and preferred shift types. Griswold may offer assignments based on client need and the caregiver's stated availability. PRN caregivers are not guaranteed a minimum number of hours.
- You may identify days, evenings, overnights, weekends, or other windows when you are typically available.
- You are not expected to remain continuously available unless specifically scheduled.
- Once you accept a shift, the assignment becomes a scheduled work commitment.
- Repeated late cancellations, no-shows, or failure to communicate may affect eligibility for future assignments.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Previous professional caregiving, home-care, assisted-living, CNA, personal-care, or similar experience is strongly preferred.
- Relevant family caregiving experience may also be considered when paired with strong judgment, reliability, and successful completion of required training.
- Reliable transportation to assigned client locations.
- Ability to communicate effectively by phone/text with the Griswold office.
- Ability to complete required documentation accurately and on time.
- Ability to successfully complete applicable background checks, registry screenings, and other pre-employment requirements.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of assigned caregiving duties, with reasonable accommodation where required by law.
This Role May Not Be the Right Fit If...
- You prefer to decide which assigned care-plan tasks you will or will not perform without contacting the office.
- You have difficulty accepting feedback or direction.
- You frequently cancel after accepting scheduled work.
- You are uncomfortable with personal care, light housekeeping, dementia supervision, or client-specific routines.
- You prefer a role where being physically present is enough even when the client needs active engagement or supervision.
