Job summary

VHC Health in Arlington, VA, seeks a Cardiothoracic Surgeon for PRN weekend call coverage to support cardiac, vascular, and thoracic services. The role emphasizes urgent procedures, inpatient care, and collaborative team-based practice.

• Maintain high standard of care and quality in patient interactions and procedures.
• Collaborate with mid-level providers for patient care support.

Job description

Schedule: PRN - weekend call coverage (Friday 5pm-Monday 7am)

Location: Arlington, VA

Responsibilities

• Provide on-call, as-needed coverage for cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgery services at VHC, Inpatient and ER.
• Manage a limited number of inpatient cases, with a focus on post‑operative care and management
• Perform both cardiac and thoracic surgeries as needed, with an emphasis on urgent or emergent procedures
• Maintain a high standard of care and quality in all patient interactions and procedures
• Work collaboratively with mid-level providers for patient care support

Minimum Requirements

• MD or DO
• Currently licensed or able to obtain the license in Virginia
• Successful completion of residency program in Cardiothoracic Surgery Fellowship training in Cardio or Thoracic Surgery
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiothoracic Surgery
• Training and familiarity in the use of EPIC (EMR) preferred
