Description

Westminster Canterbury is currently hiring a PRN (as needed) Campus Safety and Security Officer. The ideal candidate will have flexible availability and the ability to pick up shifts as needed, helping to ensure the safety and security of our campus during varying shifts.

As a Campus Safety and Security Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of our residents, visitors, and staff. Your duties will include:

  • Responding to medical and other emergencies on campus
  • Managing parking, enforcing policies, issuing tickets, booting cars, and overseeing towing (as authorized)
  • Assisting fire departments during emergencies and managing evacuation procedures for residents and patients
  • Operating and monitoring equipment like boilers, chillers, pumps, and emergency diesel generators in the event of an emergency
  • Performing minor maintenance tasks and managing mechanical issues
  • Assisting in disaster preparedness and managing safety violations
  • Operating portable radio communications and handling elevator rescue procedures
  • Providing excellent customer service and maintaining clear communication with residents, team members, and external emergency personnel

What You Need to Be Successful:

  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Security experience preferred
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • CPR certified (or able to obtain certification)
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs., walk long distances, and climb multiple flights of stairs
  • Ability to work in inclement weather and during emergencies (hurricanes, snowstorms, etc.)
  • Experience working with mature populations and proficiency in Microsoft and Google applications
  • Strong communication and customer service skills, attention to detail, and reliability

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to walk 5 to 7 miles per shift, inside and outside, regardless of weather conditions
