Birth Registrar – St. Mary's Hospital

Mother Infant Unit (MIU)

PRN (on a per-needed basis): Days, 7a-7pm or 8a-8p (three 12-hour shifts per 6-week period)

Job Summary

The Birth Registrar provides clerical support for the Obstetrical and Health Information Management departments, focusing on processing, data abstraction, and electronic submission of birth and death certificates. The role ensures timely and accurate service to our customers.

Essential Functions
  • Completes state birth registry worksheets by extracting data from medical records for birth and death registration
  • Assists mothers with completing the birth registry worksheets
  • Prepares and notarizes paternity affidavits as per state requirements
  • Inputs all required information into the electronic birth/death registry and submits to the state vital statistics registry
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • High School Degree or GED
  • Prior healthcare experience (preferred)
  • State-specific birth registry training (required)
