Job summary

Avalon Wellness & Recovery Center in Lawrence, KS seeks a compassionate Behavioral Health Technician to support individuals with mental health challenges in a therapeutic environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in a behavioral health setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of mental health disorders, addictions, and treatment modalities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in crisis situations.
  • Basic knowledge of patient care and safety protocols.
  • Proficient in using computers and electronic health record systems.
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
  • Monitor patient behavior and report any significant changes to the clinical team.
  • Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions, under the direction of licensed professionals.
  • Support and encourage patients in their therapeutic goals and recovery efforts.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment for patients.
  • Document patient progress and activities in electronic health records (EHR) accurately and timely.
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills related to patient care.
  • Implement treatment plans as designed by mental health professionals.
  • Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines regarding patient information.
