Job Requirements

We are seeking a senior‑level associate (with a minimum of four to eight years of experience) with a proven track record in sophisticated estate planning for high‑net‑worth individuals and families, trust and estate administration, and gift, estate, and generation‑skipping transfer tax planning. Exceptional mid‑level candidates with strong credentials and demonstrated leadership ability will also be considered. This is a hands‑on role for someone ready to hit the ground running in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.

The Ideal Candidate
  • is highly detail‑oriented, organized, proactive, and able to supervise and mentor other associates and paralegals, while managing multiple complex matters.
  • has excellent academic and working credentials, strong research, writing, and verbal communication skills and a background practicing trusts and estates in a law firm setting.
  • has prior experience in a fast‑paced law firm setting.
  • is in good standing with the Texas Bar, or eligible for admission to the Texas Bar.
  • ranked in the top of their law school class or graduated from a top‑tier law school.
  • may have an LL.M. in Taxation or Estate Planning (strongly preferred, though not required if the candidate otherwise has a solid trusts and estates background).
Representative Experience
  • Designing and drafting complex estate planning documents, including revocable trust agreements, ILITs, SLATs, IDGTs, GRATs, and related wealth transfer structures.
  • Transferring QSBS stock, business interests, and real estate, including addressing the complexities of entity structures, valuation, succession planning, and tax implications.
  • Managing and overseeing complex trust and estate administrations, including trust modifications, decantings, mergers, nonjudicial settlement agreements, and trust terminations.
  • Conducting sophisticated legal research and analysis involving multijurisdictional and occasionally cross‑border estate planning considerations.
