Role and Responsibilities

The Aquatics Instructor is responsible for teaching safe and effective small group and/or private swim classes for our members. They are required to hold and maintain educational standards consistent with Active Wellness's commitment to aquatics safety.

Description

Pay Transparency: $19.00 - $45.00/hour

Specific Responsibilities

• Teach various levels and age groups following Active Wellness instructional guidelines.
• Plan lessons, select drills, and evaluate student progress.
• Demonstrate skills, analyze performance, and correct techniques to minimize fear and ensure safety.
• Maintain a safe and positive learning environment.
• Attend all in-service trainings.
• Keep accurate records and issue course completion certificates.
• Perform all swimming strokes and skills taught at all levels.
• Communicate student progress effectively to students and parents.
• Assist with water quality testing, record keeping, and equipment maintenance.
• Administer emergency care when needed.
• Collaborate with other departments as a team.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Other Functions

• Be knowledgeable about all programs and activities offered.
• Promote wellness center services and activities.
• Perform routine maintenance of equipment.
• Assist with keeping the center stocked and clean.
• Attend meetings and trainings.
• Report injuries, illnesses, and security incidents.

Qualifications

• Complete a performance test demonstrating all swim strokes and skills taught at all levels.
• Be detail-oriented, organized, and customer-service focused.
• Possess strong verbal communication skills.
• Have basic computer skills and results-oriented mindset.
• Hold AED/CPR/First Aid certifications.
