Position Summary:

Conduct private swim lessons for participants of all ages and abilities in the Aquatics Center at the Glenwood Springs Community Center following American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim program curriculum.

Reports to: Aquatics Supervisor

Location: Community Center, 100 Wulfsohn Rd, Glenwood Springs, CO 81601

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Category: Part-time

Hours: Not to exceed 28 hours per week

Essential Functions

1. Coordinate with participant and/or guardian and Aquatics Supervisor to schedule sessions.
2. Prepare lesson plans for private swim lessons.
3. Gather, stage, and return necessary equipment.
4. Instruct participants independently.
5. Maintain a safe and inviting learning environment for participants.
6. Communicate with participants and parents/guardians before and/or after swim lessons about the covered topics, areas of excellence or needed improvement, and plans for the next lesson.
7. Complete and provide achievement cards to participants at the end of sessions.
8. Distribute Program Feedback forms to participants or parents/guardians at the end of sessions.
9. Inform Aquatics Supervisor of session completion, reschedules, and new sessions.
10. Provide exceptional customer service to the general public.

Minimum Qualifications

• Current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification, State Certified Teaching License, USA Swimming or American Swimming Coaches Association coach certification, or two years verifiable swim instruction experience.
• CPR/First Aid/AED certification to be obtained within 90 days of hire.
