Job summary

California Institute of Technology (Caltech) invites applications for the General Manager of The Athenaeum, Caltech's private membership club. You will lead multi-department operations, govern budgets, and drive strategy to enhance member experiences aligned with Caltech's standards.

The role requires overseeing fiscal operations, marketing, fundraising, and staff development, with an emphasis on excellence and community connection across the Caltech network.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, business, or related field; or equivalent years of relevant work experience.
• 10+ years of hospitality leadership experience.
• Experience with private clubs, luxury hotels, or historic properties with oversight of multi-department operations.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership to all Athenaeum departments, including fiscal operations, membership and marketing, F&B, and events.
• Oversee budgets, revenues, and cost controls; drive financial performance and fundraising.
• Lead, develop, and train staff; foster a positive, productive workplace culture.
• Develop and implement communication and marketing strategies to enhance member engagement and outreach.
• Ensure compliance with laws and governance practices and collaborate with Boards and committees.
