JOB TITLE: Private Event Sales Manager, Wrigley Field Events

DEPARTMENT: Wrigley Field Events

REPORTS TO: Vice President, Wrigley Field Events

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

COMPENSATION: $75,000 base salary USD and eligible for discretionary sales incentive plan

HOW YOU’LL CONTRIBUTE:

The Sales Manager will be responsible for generating private event revenue from business development and sales through various outreach channels, including their own network of contacts, networking locally and nationally, and cold-calling event planners, DMCs, convention liaisons, and corporate event executives and teams.

Campus event venue locations may include :

  • Wrigley Field Private Event Rentals
  • Gallagher Way Private Events
  • 1101 West Waveland and American Airlines Conference Center
  • Collaboration with Partnership Venues
  • Campus Restaurants
  • Draft Kings Sports Book

THE DAY-TO-DAY:

  • Responsible for achieving and exceeding sales targets as determined by Wrigley Field Events Private Events leadership.
  • Proactively solicit new business by, among other things, making cold sales calls and presentations, attending local trade shows, and engaging in other new client prospecting.
  • Responsible for building and maintaining strong client relationships in the Chicago meeting and events business.
  • Conduct site tours to acquaint potential clients, DMCs, and industry partners with Wrigley Field/Gallagher Way, etc
  • Create a system for lead generation in the meetings and events industry
  • Develop and maintain a strong and collaborative working relationship with Levy Restaurants and Cubs Operations. Ensure strong working communication plan with internal partners.
  • Grow relations with Choose Chicago and other public and corporate agencies and associations that can benefit Wrigley Field Events and the Chicago Cubs
  • Monitor and report changes and new trends in the private meetings and events industry
  • Responsible for monthly progress reports (bookings, prospecting, outside sales calls, site tours, etc)
  • Additional duties as assigned

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

  • Proven outbound sales results in a meetings and events environment
  • Resourceful, innovative, and forward-thinking, with an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Must be able to work non-traditional hours that come with working in a venue including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Must be creative, detail-oriented, and capable of working on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Must have a thorough understanding of the complexity of events

WHAT SETS YOU APART:

  • Mandatory, 5 years of related sales experience, including 2-5 years of private events and meetings industry experience; preferable in one or more of the following;
  • Large-Scale Venue or Event Space
  • i.e. museums, arena/stadiums, large hotel or event spaces
  • Destination Management Company (DMC)
  • or Destination Marketing Organization (DMO)
  • i.e. Choose Chicago
  • Robust list of contacts in meetings and events including DMC’s, corporate meeting planners, event suppliers, and other professionals
