Job description

Whistler Partners is partnering with a national corporate platform looking to add a mid-level private equity associate to its team in Chicago, Washington, D.C., or New York.

The group advises private equity funds, independent sponsors, family offices, and portfolio companies on a broad range of transactions, including M&A, leveraged buyouts, recapitalizations, growth financings, formations, joint ventures, and other strategic arrangements. The practice also intersects with several active industry verticals, including aerospace and defense, healthcare, life sciences, food and beverage, renewable energy, communications, fintech, AI, and entertainment.

Why this role?

This is a strong opportunity for a private equity associate who wants a national platform, sophisticated deal flow, and early client exposure inside an energetic and collaborative corporate team. The role is built for someone who already has real private equity transaction experience and wants to continue developing across a wide range of deal structures and industries. Associates are expected to take meaningful responsibility, communicate directly with clients and senior attorneys, manage deal process, and help oversee junior team members.

For someone looking for high-quality PE work with room to grow into a more visible client-facing role, this is a compelling platform.

Key Responsibilities
  • Draft transaction agreements and related deal documents with efficiency and clarity.
  • Negotiate deal terms alongside clients and supervising attorneys.
  • Manage transaction closings and broader deal processes.
  • Conduct factual and legal research and provide thoughtful analysis.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, partners, associates, and support teams.
  • Work with and oversee junior team members on private equity transactions.
Top Requirements
  • 4–6 years of private equity transaction experience.
  • Strong background in M&A, leveraged buyouts, recapitalizations, growth financings, or related corporate transactions.
  • Ability to handle multiple transaction types and structures with flexibility and judgment.
  • Excellent drafting, communication, organization, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Desire to grow the practice and engage with the local business community.
  • Excellent academic credentials.
  • Admission, or eligibility for admission, in the relevant office jurisdiction.
TL;DR

National private equity platform hiring a 4th–6th year associate in Chicago, D.C., or New York. Sophisticated PE deal flow, broad industry mix, early client exposure, collaborative team, and real room to grow into a more visible deal-management role.
