Job summary

PPM America, Inc. is seeking a Private Equity Accountant II in Chicago to perform complex accounting, financial analysis, reporting and compliance tasks.

The role requires independent judgment and supports process improvements and internal controls. Responsibilities include preparing and analyzing financial statements, reconciliations, forecasting, managing fund investments, calculating management fees and supporting audits.

Qualifications

  • Experience with GAAP/IFRS and financial regulations.
  • Knowledge of private equity accounting as applied to funds.
  • Strong Excel and reporting capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements and related reports.
  • Conduct account reconciliations and variance analysis.
  • Assist with forecasting, cost analysis, and fund facilities.
  • Support audits with required documentation.
  • Mentor junior staff as needed.

Job Purpose

The Private Equity Accountant II performs more complex accounting functions, including financial analysis, reporting, and compliance tasks. This role requires independent judgment and provides support for process improvements and internal controls.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Prepares and analyzes financial statements and related reports.
  • Conducts account reconciliations and variance analysis.
  • Assists with forecasting and cost analysis.
  • Assists with maintaining fund credit facilities.
  • Manages and takes action on the inflow of information and documents from fund investments as necessary, including but not limited to: Capital call notices; Capital distribution notices; Partners capital statements.
  • Calculates management fees.
  • Ensures compliance with tax regulations and company policies.
  • Prepares month-end, quarter-end, and year-end reports.
  • Supports internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation.
  • Develops and implements process improvements for efficiency.
  • Mentors and guides more junior accountants as needed.
Other Duties

Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Strong understanding of GAAP/IFRS and financial regulations.
  • Private Equity industry knowledge.
  • Strong PC and Microsoft Office skills, especially Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with a sense of urgency.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to deal with employees/clients professionally.
  • Strong team player and a self-starter in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Proficiency in Private Equity industry software is a plus.
Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. 3-5 years of accounting experience required.

Base Pay: $101,000.00 - $111,000.00. The base salary for this position may vary depending on experience, job-related knowledge, skills, and abilities. In addition to the base salary, this role will be eligible to participate in our annual bonus program. This role will also be eligible for compensated personal time off and holidays, health benefits, 401(k) plan with generous matching and other benefit programs according to the Company's employment policies and subject to the formal terms of such plans and programs.
