Job description

BrightStar Care is seeking a Registered Nurse to care for our patients and facilitate their speedy recovery. You will be responsible for educating them and their families on prevention and healthy habits. The ideal candidate will be a responsible and well-trained professional able to give the best nursing care with little supervision. You will be compassionate and cool-tempered, and able to follow health and safety guidelines faithfully and consistently. The goal is to promote patient’s well-being by providing high quality nursing care.

We are currently seeking PDN RNs to cover 9 am – 3 pm shifts with occasional night shifts. These shifts would be focused on working with one client.

Responsibilities:

  1. Monitor patient’s condition and assess their needs to provide the best possible care and advice
  2. Perform routine procedures (blood pressure measurements, administering injections etc.) and fill in patients’ charts
  3. Adjust and administer patient’s medication and provide treatments according to physician’s orders
  4. Provide instant medical care in emergencies
  5. Counsel client and family through care process while updating the family on a regular basis
  6. Foster a supportive and compassionate environment to care for patients and their families

Skills:

  1. Proven experience as a registered nurse
  2. Excellent knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures
  3. Excellent knowledge of emergency care
  4. In-depth knowledge of health and safety guidelines and procedures (sanitation, decontamination etc.) and willingness to follow them at all times
  5. A team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  6. Responsible and compassionate
  7. Outstanding organizational and multi-tasking skills
  8. Patient with excellent problem-solving skills

Requirements:

  1. Current unrestricted RN license in the state of Texas
  2. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
  3. Wound care experience is preferred
  4. Proficiency in IV Skills and Central Line (PICC/PORT) care is required
  5. Certified CPR and negative TB skin test or chest x-ray
  6. Minimum one (1) year of documented experience required in a home health agency, primary care clinic or health facility, preferred. Three to five years is preferred
  7. Possess exceptional nursing assessment skills
  8. Analytic/Critical thinker
  9. Licensed driver with valid automobile insurance
  10. Ability to work on weekends, nights and holidays
  11. Reliable transportation
  12. Must be able to stand walk, squat, bend, kneel, reach, twist, push and pull. Varied assistance is required depending on the mobility of the client. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
