Job Description — Privacy Program Manager (Contract)
Location: Remote (U.S.-based preferred)
Duration: 6–12 months (potential extension)
Schedule: Full-time (40 hrs/week)
Pay Range: $75–$105/hr (W-2) commensurate with experience
Position Overview
A fast-paced, highly regulated technology organization is seeking an experienced Privacy Program Manager to support a growing Privacy Legal and Compliance function. This role serves as an operational partner to privacy counsel and cross-functional stakeholders, driving governance, coordination, and execution across multiple privacy workstreams. The ideal candidate brings strong program management skills plus practical experience supporting privacy and data protection initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Privacy Program Management & Operations
- Lead and coordinate multiple privacy initiatives, ensuring milestones are met and work is delivered on schedule.
- Build and maintain program governance: project plans, timelines, status reporting, and risk tracking.
- Implement and manage intake, triage, prioritization, and workflow processes for privacy-related requests.
- Track ownership, deliverables, dependencies, and escalation paths across the privacy team.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Privacy Legal, Compliance, Security, Product, Engineering, Procurement, and other business teams to align on privacy initiatives.
- Serve as a central coordinator for privacy-related projects and escalations.
- Facilitate stakeholder communications and operating cadence (e.g., updates, steering discussions, working sessions).
Privacy & Compliance Initiatives
- Support privacy-by-design reviews and integration into product/business processes.
- Coordinate privacy risk assessments, remediation efforts, and risk-response activities.
- Help drive privacy tooling and governance technology initiatives.
- Manage and monitor data subject rights request workflows.
- Coordinate vendor privacy reviews and Data Processing Agreement (DPA) processes.
- Support regulatory inquiries, compliance documentation, and audit-readiness activities as needed.
Process Improvement & Reporting
- Introduce operational structure where processes are informal or inconsistent.
- Develop frameworks for prioritization, capacity/resource planning, and sequencing of work.
- Create dashboards/metrics to provide visibility into workload, throughput, and program effectiveness.
- Reduce administrative burden on senior privacy/legal stakeholders through scalable operations.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years in one or more of: Privacy, Data Protection, Cybersecurity, Compliance, Legal Operations, or Program Management.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives and deliver results in a fast-moving environment.
- Experience supporting privacy programs in highly regulated environments.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, and cross-functional coordination skills.
- Highly organized with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities; able to operate independently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with privacy laws/frameworks such as GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, HIPAA, and/or other global privacy requirements.
- Privacy certifications (e.g., CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT).
- Experience implementing privacy/compliance governance tools or workflow solutions.
- Background in regulated industries (e.g., healthcare, health tech, medical devices, or similar).
