Job summary

Google is seeking a Privacy Engineer in Mountain View to embed privacy into products from the ground up. You will define technical privacy strategy, collaborating with Product Management and Engineering on critical design decisions and scalable guardrails that protect user data.

You will help shape trust across products, drive privacy features, and align with regulatory frameworks while balancing business needs and innovation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience applying privacy technologies (e.g., differential privacy, automated access management) and customizing solutions to meet organizational needs.
• Knowledge of GDPR and CCPA and Ads or online commerce domain.

Responsibilities

• Guide engineering teams during product development to ensure privacy practices are transparent and protective of user data.
• Conduct technical and policy reviews to identify privacy concerns.
• Lead and manage proactive development of new privacy features and tools.
• Contribute to product, business, policy, and legal initiatives to mitigate privacy risks.
• Respond to privacy incidents by collecting scope and root cause information and coordinating remediation.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  
• 2 years of experience designing solutions that maintain or enhance the privacy posture of the organization by analyzing and assessing proposed engineering designs (e.g., product features, infrastructure systems) and influencing stakeholders.
  
• 2 years of experience applying privacy technologies (e.g., differential privacy, automated access management solutions, etc.), and customizing existing solutions and frameworks to meet organizational needs.
  

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience balancing risks in ambiguous and complex situations with multiple stakeholders.
• Experience managing multiple high priority requests, while determining resource allocation (e.g., time, prioritization) to solve problems in a fast-paced, changing organization.
• Experience in code maintenance and review in one or more general-purpose languages.
• Knowledge of common regulatory frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and the Ads or online commerce domain.
