Job summary

AppFolio is seeking a Compliance Director to mature Privacy Compliance, records retention, and second-line data governance. You will lead a hands-on program, define KPIs/KRIs, and partner with Legal, InfoSec, and product teams to integrate privacy standards across enterprise operations.

Responsibilities include maturing the privacy program, leading data governance initiatives, and reporting to executives and the board. 10+ years of leadership in compliance, risk, and privacy are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; relevant professional certifications (e.g., CIPP/US, CCEP) are a plus.
• 10+ years of progressive compliance, risk, or operational leadership experience in high-growth technology, SaaS, fintech, or regulated environments.
• Experience building privacy frameworks (e.g., CCPA/CPRA) and records retention programs within SaaS product architectures.
• Experience serving as the primary Second Line liaison to ERM and Internal Audit.

Responsibilities

• Lead AppFolio’s Privacy Program and related governance across enterprise data.
• Act as Privacy SME for third-party risk management program (TPRM).
• Assess mature privacy program effectiveness and roadmap future evolution.
• Map privacy obligations into business and product workflows without friction.
• Serve as second-line liaison to ERM and Internal Audit with consistent reporting.
• Establish standardized KPIs/KRIs and reporting frameworks across core compliance domains.
• Coordinate cross-functional data sources and repeatable reporting processes.
• Translate compliance data into actionable reporting for executives and boards.
• Ensure accountability and timely action on risk trends and gaps.
