Job summary

Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry seeks an Educational Teacher to deliver instructional programs to adults in ASPC Yuma, San Luis unit. You will design lessons across core subjects and Special Education as needed, supporting inmates toward literacy and academic goals.

The role requires Arizona teaching certification and ability to work in a prison setting, with duties including progress reporting, collaboration with education staff, and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
• Current Arizona ADE Teaching Certificate in Elementary or Secondary.
• Background investigation, drug test, and possibly a medical/physical examination.
• Arizona DPS Fingerprint Card required; valid driver’s license if driving on state business.

Responsibilities

• Teaches all subjects to students who have not completed full academic achievement, potentially through K-12; provides Special Education services when required.
• Implements lesson plans and collaborates with classroom and Special Education teachers.
• Assesses student progress and develops an education plan.
• Maintains records and monthly evaluations; ensures security of testing instruments.
• Communicates effectively in writing and verbally; collaborates with education staff.
