Job summary

The State of California, CDCR/CCHCS vacancy announces a Prison Canteen Manager I in San Luis Obispo County. The PCM I assists in the operation of the prison canteen and reports to the PCM II, handling purchasing, pricing, storing and accounting for items used by incarcerated persons.

Limited term for 12 months with possible extension; in-office work hours 07:30–15:30, Monday–Friday. Final filing date is 11/05/2026; candidates will be screened for minimum qualifications and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the operation of the prison canteen under the supervision of Prison Canteen Manager II.
• Assist PCM II with purchasing, pricing, storing, selling and accounting of canteen items for incarcerated persons.
• Act as lead person to the Material & Stores Supervisor I; assign and review work, maintain discipline, and report issues to PCM II.
• Research products and markets, contact vendors, select merchandise, and maintain orderly canteen operations.
• Ensure compliance with departmental/institutional rules and emergency procedures; support safety of persons and property.
