Overview

Position

We are aggressively seeking a Prior Authorizations Pharmacy Technician to join a large healthcare organization. This role is full-time and requires high levels of service and attention to patients.

Daily Responsibilities

• Provide expertise and customer service support to members, customers, and/or providers for prior authorization requests.
• Take incoming requests for prior authorizations for formulary and non-formulary medications, ensuring high-quality service and productivity.
• Receive requests via fax or telephone from providers’ offices and pharmacists and perform clinical review in keeping with legal and contractual requirements, including turn-around times (TATs) and service level agreements (SLAs).
• Document interactions clearly, accurately, and professionally; ensure compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.
• Process prior authorization requests using established criteria and guidelines for medications not inherently covered on a member’s prescription drug plan.
• Answer inquiries and research formulary and benefit issues using appropriate reference materials.
• Resolve issues and complaints in a timely manner.
• Other duties as assigned by management.
• Handle inbound phone requests and gather member data to provide information for pharmacist consultations.

Shift

• Must be available for any 8-hour shift between 5:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
• Training hours: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
• Overtime and holidays may be required based on business needs.

Requirements

• High School Diploma
• Active Pharmacy Technician License in the applicable state
• Knowledge of Prior Authorizations or Pre-certifications
• Knowledge of insurance experience (Medicare, Medicaid, commercial)
• Computer skills are a MUST (MS Excel, Word, Outlook)
