Job summary

SGMC Health is seeking a detail‑oriented Precertification and Prior Authorization Clerk in the Central Scheduling team at the SGMC Patient Financial Services location. You will obtain precertification and/or authorization for radiology, injections, chemotherapy or radiation before services are rendered, and ensure approvals are in place by 2:00 p.m.

Qualifications

• High school graduate preferred.
• Minimum 1 year administrative experience in a hospital/medical office.
• Excellent computer skills and MS Office proficiency.
• Familiarity with medical office software is preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Self‑motivated with initiative and teamwork ability.
• Attention to detail; able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Flexible work schedule for operations and process needs.

Responsibilities

• Obtain precertification and/or prior authorization for tests and treatments.
• Ensure authorization is obtained by 2:00 p.m. the day prior to the appointment.
• Contact patients if precertification cannot be obtained to reschedule.
• Review accuracy of information and supporting documents.
• Upload authorization numbers and documentation into Mosaiq and HIS Series.
• Utilize Quality Check List in Mosaiq for monitoring authorizations.
• Document in Mosaiq as the official medical record and support program development.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
