Job summary

The Neurology Center in Carlsbad is seeking a Prior Authorization Coordinator to join our team. You will work with Medical Assistants, Physicians, and Advanced Practitioners to obtain prior authorization for specialty medications, ensuring timely and compliant processing.

The ideal candidate has 1–2 years of prior authorization experience, familiarity with CPT/ICD-10, and strong communication skills. Experience with CoverMyMeds and Epic EMR is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Medical Assistant certification or related healthcare training preferred.
• 1-2 years of prior authorization experience (preferred).
• Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 codes.
• Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems; Epic experience preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple authorization requests and deadlines.
• Excellent communication and customer service when working with patients, providers, insurers, and specialty pharmacies.

The Neurology Center is looking for a Prior Authorization Coordinator to join our practice in our Carlsbad office. The Prior Authorization Coordinator will work alongside our Medical Assistants, Physicians and Advanced Practitioners to obtain authorization for specialty medications for our patients. The ideal candidate will possess the following:

Job duties include but are not limited to:

• Contacting insurances to obtain prior authorization
• Completing incoming prior authorizations on Covermymeds.com
• Coordinating appeals with providers as needed
• Educate patients on current copay assistance for medications

Preferred experience:

• 1-2 years prior insurance verification experience (preferred)
• Experience with specialty pharmacies (preferred)
• Experience submitting authorizations (preferred)
• EPIC EMR experience (preferred)

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Medical Assistant certification or related healthcare training preferred.
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience with prior authorizations, preferably for injectable medications, specialty medications, or neurology.
• Knowledge of insurance verification, prior authorization requirements, and payer guidelines.
• Familiarity with CPT and ICD-10 codes.
• Experience working with EMR/EHR systems; Epic experience preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple authorization requests and deadlines.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills when working with patients, providers, insurance companies, and specialty pharmacies.
• Ability to obtain and review clinical documentation needed to support authorization requests.
