Job summary

Employbridge seeks a Printing Supervisor for a confidential Richmond facility to lead the printing department. You will oversee daily production, ensure quality and safety, and drive efficiency in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires strong printing experience, supervisory skills, and a proven ability to improve productivity while maintaining GMP/HACCP and food-defense standards where applicable.

Qualifications

  • Experience in manufacturing printing operations and supervision.
  • Understanding of color management and print quality standards.
  • Ability to troubleshoot presses and manage ink, plates, and anilox rolls.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and manufacturing reporting systems.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate printing department operations.
  • Meet production schedules while maintaining quality and efficiency.
  • Coach and develop production team members.
  • Monitor metrics and drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with maintenance, QA, engineering, scheduling, and ops.
  • Manage equipment utilization and minimize downtime.
  • Drive waste reduction in paperboard, inks, and materials.
  • Ensure safety and regulatory compliance, including GMP/HACCP where applicable.
  • Maintain print quality, color consistency, and registration accuracy.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve printing-related issues.

Position Overview

A growing manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Printing Supervisor to lead daily operations within its printing department. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing production activities, ensuring quality standards are met, driving operational efficiency, and leading a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate will have strong printing industry experience, supervisory skills, and a proven ability to improve productivity while maintaining safety, quality, and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate all printing department operations.
  • Ensure production schedules are achieved while maintaining quality and efficiency goals.
  • Lead, train, coach, and develop production team members.
  • Monitor production metrics and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, Scheduling, and Operations teams to optimize performance.
  • Manage equipment utilization and support efforts to minimize downtime.
  • Drive waste reduction programs involving paperboard, inks, and production materials.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain food safety, GMP, HACCP, and Food Defense compliance where applicable.
  • Monitor print quality, color consistency, registration accuracy, and overall production performance.
  • Support troubleshooting and resolution of printing-related issues.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 5 years of manufacturing printing experience.
  • Experience with flexographic, offset, or commercial printing processes.
  • Strong understanding of color management, print quality standards, and press troubleshooting.
  • Experience with ink management, plate mounting, anilox roll maintenance, and print registration.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and manufacturing reporting systems.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.Ability to interpret specifications, production schedules, and quality standards.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Experience in paperboard, packaging, or food-contact manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of FDA food-contact regulations.
  • Familiarity with BRCGS Packaging Materials standards.
  • Understanding of sustainable sourcing and chain-of-custody practices.
