Job summary

Graphic Packaging International seeks a Printing Manager to oversee day-to-day operations in the Printing and Sheeting departments. The role provides leadership to production teams, ensures cost-effective output, and aligns with company objectives for quality and efficiency.

The position requires 3–5 years in a printing environment, strong leadership, and experience with printing presses and converting equipment. On-site role with comprehensive benefits and opportunities for advancement.

Qualifications

  • Manufacturing experience required.
  • 3-5 years relevant experience within the printing environment.
  • Experience operating hand jacks, electric pallet jacks and forklifts and clamp trucks preferred.
  • 3-5 years of leadership skills – must have the ability to motivate people to perform at high levels.
  • Attendance and reliability required; able to work independently and perform duties.

  • Directs the printing and sheeting production of all items at the lowest cost while meeting quality specifications.
  • Develops, recommends, and implements operating policies and ensures policy adherence.
  • Coordinates with all plant departments to establish responsibilities and outcomes.
  • Manages employees by setting goals, allocating resources, and evaluating performance.
  • Provides leadership to improve safety, quality, and productivity, and to reduce waste.

Directs and coordinates the day-to-day activities of the Printing and Sheeting departments, by providing leadership and supervision to subordinates and serves as the link between direct reports and middle/upper management. They understand and align business operations and the Department as he/she executes their role to exceed customer expectations and align with GPI business, cultural, financial and operational objectives.

Job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Directs the printing and sheeting production of all items at the lowest cost consistent with established specifications in terms of quality and quantity.
  • Develops, recommends, and implements operating policies and ensures the application of such policies.
  • Coordinates and collaborates with all departments of the plant in establishing and carrying out responsibilities.
  • Manages employees by establishing performance goals, allocating resources, and assessing performance.
  • Provides leadership directed at continuous improvement in safety, quality / customer satisfaction, and productivity.
  • Provides leadership and direction to production management and employees to continuously improve quality, reduce waste and increase throughput.
  • Assists and supports Plant and Operation Manager in all aspects.
  • Shares an obligation to protect and strengthen Graphic Packaging International’s good reputation in our relationships with customers, employees, suppliers, competitors, investors, and governmental agencies, and to act consistently with our core values: Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships, and Teamwork

Background / Experience
  • Manufacturing experience required
  • Must have 3-5 years relevant experience within the printing environment
  • Experience operating hand jacks, electric pallet jacks and forklifts and clamp trucks preferred
  • 3-5 years of leadership skills – must have the ability to motivate people to perform at high levels

Education / Knowledge
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field and/or equivalent experience in a converting facility is preferred
  • Experience and knowledge of roll stock cutting machines, printing presses, die cutting machines, and straight-line gluers is preferred
Skills
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • REASONING ABILITY - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • MECHANICAL
  • COMPUTER/OFFICE EQUIPMENT SKILLS - SAP, MS Office and database programs; Requires use of all general office equipment (e.g., fax, copier, telephone, etc.)
