Job summary

Silgan Closures in Downers Grove, IL seeks a Printing and Coating Engineer to lead coil coating, printing, and curing operations. You will drive process improvements, equipment optimization, and safety compliance while supporting plant operations and OEM collaboration.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in engineering and solid experience in metal packaging or coating operations, with ability to travel up to 50% to support other plants; AutoCAD skills are a plus and a drive for Lean and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering required.
• Significant experience in can manufacturing, coil coating, printing, metal packaging, or coating operations preferred.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and use precision measuring tools.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, TPM, and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
• AutoCAD proficiency preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead process improvements to enhance quality, safety, and production efficiency.
• Support coil coating, printing, curing ovens, oxidizers, and heat recovery systems.
• Troubleshoot complex manufacturing equipment and identify root causes of issues.
• Lead equipment installations, audits, overhauls, and qualification activities.
• Collaborate with plant teams and OEM suppliers to develop new products and manufacturing solutions.
• Train operators, supervisors, and maintenance personnel on equipment setup and safety.
