PCB Layout | High-Speed Digital | Analog | RF | Power Electronics
About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced PCB Designer to support the development of advanced electronic systems used in aerospace and avionics applications. This position will focus on designing complex, multi-layer printed circuit boards while working closely with electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing engineering teams. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro/OrCAD, high-speed PCB layout, signal integrity, and PCB manufacturing processes. This role offers the opportunity to work independently on challenging designs while contributing to high-reliability electronic products.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and layout complex, multi-layer PCBs incorporating high-speed digital, analog, RF, and power circuitry.
- Apply PCB design techniques such as differential pair routing, controlled impedance, trace length matching, and signal/power integrity optimization.
- Develop and update electrical schematics, PCB footprints, component libraries, and design documentation.
- Incorporate EMI/EMC and ESD protection considerations into PCB layouts.
- Generate manufacturing documentation, including Gerber files, ODB++, fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, and BOMs.
- Partner with electrical and mechanical engineers to ensure PCB designs meet electrical, thermal, and mechanical requirements.
- Participate in design reviews and apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.
- Support PCB prototyping, board bring-up, troubleshooting, and design modifications.
- Work directly with PCB fabrication and SMT assembly teams to resolve manufacturing challenges.
- Investigate PCB design issues, identify root causes, and implement improvements.
- Maintain accurate design files and documentation while following established engineering and configuration control processes.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree, technical certification in PCB design, or equivalent hands-on industry experience.
- 4+ years of professional PCB layout and design experience.
- Proficiency with ECAD tools such as Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, or OrCAD.
- Experience designing multi-layer PCBs involving high-speed digital, analog, RF, or power electronics.
- Knowledge of differential pair routing, impedance control, trace length matching, and signal integrity principles.Understanding of PCB fabrication, assembly, and manufacturing documentation requirements.
- Familiarity with IPC design and manufacturing standards.
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical specifications.
- Strong problem-solving skills and experience collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience designing PCBs for aerospace, avionics, defense, or other high-reliability electronic systems.
- Experience with rigid-flex or High-Density Interconnect (HDI) PCB designs.
- Familiarity with EMI/EMC compliance, ESD protection, and power integrity analysis.
- Knowledge of IPC-2221, IPC-7351, and IPC-A-600 standards.
- Experience supporting PCB manufacturing, SMT assembly, and production troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, or similar quality management systems.
