Job Title: Remote Print Production Artist

About the Role

Surf City Print is looking for an experienced Print Production Artist to support our growing demand in print, promo, and apparel. This remote role is ideal for a detail-oriented creative who thrives on managing multiple projects and ensuring every piece of artwork is flawlessly prepared for production.

Key Responsibilities

Print

• Prepare artwork with correct crops and bleeds
• Edit and adjust PDF files per vendor/customer requests using Adobe Illustrator
• Create custom dielines (e.g., hang tags, special shapes)
• Design collateral such as signage, banners, flyers, brochures, and trifolds
• Upload final graphics and place orders on vendor portals based on their specifications
• Ensure raster art has proper resolution, all art is in CMYK, and special finishes (spot UV, foil, etc.) are correctly set up
• Review artwork and prepare proofs per vendor and customer specifications
• Use vendor templates and ensure final files are vector-based, sized to spec, and use PMS colors
• Submit proofs for approval and update artwork based on feedback
• Send final approved files to sales and order management

Apparel

• Convert customer art into mockups for decorated apparel
• Create final production-ready artwork for screen printing, embroidery, or other decoration methods
• Ensure all fonts are outlined and files use PMS colors
• Provide final files to the sales rep and order manager for production

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in print production
• Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign
• Strong understanding of print production across offset, digital, and large-format
• Skilled in preparing files for white ink, varnishes, embossing, and specialty coatings
• Able to use vendor templates for catalogs, brochures, and more
• High attention to detail and excellent time management skills
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
• Comfortable converting raster to vector and assigning correct PMS colors
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
• Familiarity with InDesign scripts (e.g., for variable data) a plus
• Experience with Commonsku software a plus

Other Notes

• This is a remote position – candidates must have a dedicated home office setup
• This is not a graphic design role, it is file set ups for production and mockups after receiving art from the client.
• Must be fluent in English and communicate clearly
• Independent contractor role; flexibility with hours but deadlines must be met
