Job summary

Bandit Running, Inc. is seeking a Surface / Print / Pattern Designer to bring artistic vision to performance product. You will develop patterns and graphics for active fabrics, engineer artwork for prints, and create 3D renders to ensure proper placement.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of experience in print/surface design.
• Strong portfolio showcasing refined taste, color sensibility, and versatility in pattern design.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator) and working knowledge of color separation tools and CAD software, plus 3D software (Browzwear, Clo).
• Exceptional understanding of color theory, print placement, repeat building, and digital file organization.
• Comfortable working across abstract and graphic patterns from minimal to expressive.
• Familiarity with activewear fabrics and how print interacts with stretch, opacity, and finish.
• Strong organization and communication skills to manage multiple deadlines and cross-functional feedback.

We are looking for a Surface / Print / Pattern Designer with a sharp eye and creative instinct to bring artistic vision to performance product. This role requires a unique blend of color mastery, print development expertise, and technical precision. You’ll develop patterns and graphics that seamlessly fuse function with visual storytelling, all optimized for active fabrics and movement. This role works closely with our Lead Designer, creating custom prints, colorways, and layouts across all apparel categories. You’ll design repeat patterns, engineer artwork for performance silhouettes, and ensure files are set up with precision for flawless execution. Your work will balance an elevated, modern aesthetic with a deep understanding of the demands of high-performance fabrics and print techniques.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Creative Development

• Support the creation of original print and pattern designs with a refined, elevated aesthetic, through the lens of performance running.
• Develop artwork layouts for both engineered and repeat prints across performance categories.
• Collaborate with the design and brand team to create seasonal print direction and storytelling.
• Develop factory ready files, understanding what grain direction & print technique is needed for best execution.

Technical Execution

• Set up artwork files for factory handoff, ensuring all necessary layers, scales, and formats are correct.
• Build seamless repeat patterns and CAD accurate colorways with strong attention to proportion and placement.
• Create 3D renders of all artwork to ensure proper placement and scale.
• Provide precise color comments and artwork callouts based on in-depth knowledge of color theory and print application. Work with factory to ensure we reach desired aesthetic result in bulk

Material & Print Expertise

• Work closely with the materials and design team to ensure compatibility of prints with active fabrics (stretch, compression, texture)
• Apply working knowledge of various print techniques (sublimation, screen, heat transfer, digital) to guide design decisions and ensure print integrity across different materials
• Own initial strike‑off review process and lab dips with detailed notes and actionable feedback

What We’re Looking For

• 2-4 years of experience in print/surface design, ideally in performance or lifestyle apparel
• Strong portfolio showcasing refined taste, color sensibility, and versatility in pattern design
• Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator) and working knowledge of color separation tools and CAD software, as well as 3D software (Browzwear, Clo)
• Exceptional understanding of color theory, print placement, repeat building, and digital file organization
