This Position Is Funded In Part Through Federal Funds.

The Operator/Print Operation is responsible for operating printing and fulfillment equipment to ensure accurate and timely processing of client and county Department of Social Services (DSS) reports. This position supports the coordination of print schedules, equipment operations, and quality assurance within the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NC DHHS) Information Technology Division. The role involves direct operation of high-volume inserting and folding equipment under established production deadlines.

This position contributes to the delivery of essential documents to internal and external stakeholders, supporting NC DHHS's mission to ensure consistent, reliable, and secure services. The work helps maintain service-level agreements and upholds the integrity of mass communication for health and human service programs.

Key Duties Include

  • Operate printing, inserting, and fulfillment equipment such as Pitney Bowes Flexible Productivity Series 9 (FPS 9) and Rival inserters.
  • Perform routine maintenance on printing and inserting systems.
  • Coordinate print workloads and production priorities with management and staff.
  • Process print jobs and merge/sort reports for agency clients and county Departments of Social Services (DSS).
  • Monitor print quality and isolate damaged work for reprinting.
  • Track and restock inventory of print and fulfillment supplies.
  • Operate pallet jacks to retrieve supplies and unload delivery trucks.
  • Communicate with clients and vendors to ensure fulfillment expectations are met.
  • Adjust schedules to meet print deadlines and collaborate with co-workers to meet unit goals.
  • Document and report equipment issues to management for timely resolution.

Management Preferences

  • Experience operating high-volume inserting or mailing systems, such as Pitney Bowes Flexible Productivity Series 9 (FPS 9) or Rival Inserters.
  • Familiarity with print fulfillment equipment such as folders, stackers, or pallet jacks.
  • Knowledge of mass benefit disbursement processes related to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NC DHHS).
