Job summary

Pela Case Corporation is hiring a Print Operator for our Phoenix Sustainability Studio to run engraving and UV color printing machines on compostable products. You’ll decorate on-demand orders using our proprietary print software and ensure production standards are met.

Qualifications

  • Experience in manufacturing environments or production settings.
  • Proficient with computer software and tools used in print/engraving processes.
  • Ability to learn procedures quickly with attention to detail.
  • Experience with laser engraving and commercial printing is desirable.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for an 8-hour shift.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out production, inspection, machine operation and packaging duties.
  • Set up and operate laser engraving machines and UV color printers, decorating eco-friendly products.
  • Decorate on-demand orders using print software and RIP software.
  • Prepare art files using Adobe Illustrator and templates, ensuring production standards are followed.
  • Load and unload jigs to maximize throughput.
  • Remove finished product from machines and check quality.
  • Maintain inventory using CRM software and follow QA/QC procedures.
  • Maintain a maintenance schedule and log.
  • Troubleshoot machine performance to decrease downtime.
  • Maintain a safe and clean workspace and follow safety rules.
  • Assist others as necessary.

The Opportunity:

The mission of the Print Operator is to support the Print & Engraving Team in creating best in market finished goods in our Phoenix Sustainability Studio (PSS). The person in this position will excel at running engraving and UV color printing machines while monitoring machine performance, executing custom case projects and collaborating on new production processes. Maximizing decoration capacity and improving fulfillment times will be the core focus, allowing Pela to execute timely launches.

This role requires an individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment of continuous improvement and problem-solving. Teamwork and adaptability will be critical to success. Meeting targets and delivering on promises nurtures your soul.

Responsibilities:
  • Carry out production, inspection, machine operation and packaging duties.
  • Set up and operate laser engraving machines and Mimaki UV color printers, decorating eco-friendly, compostable products.
  • Decorate on-demand orders using Pela’s proprietary print software as well as RIP software for the printers.
  • Prepare art files using Adobe Illustrator using established templates and ensuring production standards are followed.
  • Load & unload jigs in a timely fashion to maximize throughput.
  • Remove finished product from the machines, checking each for quality.
  • Ensure accurate inventory using our CRM software.
  • Follow Quality Assurance and Quality Control techniques to ensure high quality products are delivered to our customers.
  • Maintain a maintenance schedule and log.
  • Assist in troubleshooting machine performance issues to decrease downtime and mitigate production risk.
  • Maintain a safe and clean workspace.
  • Follow established safety rules and regulations.
  • Assist others as necessary.
Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of systems and processes in a manufacturing setting.
  • Proficient in computer applications and software.
  • Enjoys a busy day in a shop/production environment.
  • Laser engraving and commercial printing experience are desirable.
  • Electronic and mechanical aptitude is desirable.
  • Adobe Illustrator or graphic design experience is desirable.
  • Ability to learn procedures quickly with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a loud environment, lift 40 lbs, and stand for an 8-hour shift.

  • 7:00am-3:30pm: Tuesday - Saturday
