Principal Software Developer – AI & Web Applications

About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Software Developer to shape our next-generation AI-powered content platform. This platform enables authors, teachers, and professors to create dynamic learning experiences using AI, assessments, asset management, APIs, and scalable content delivery.

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, you will be a hands-on technical leader with expertise in front-end, full-stack development, and AI integration. You will influence architecture, collaborate across teams, and lead by example to ensure our platform is innovative and scalable.

What You’ll Do

1. Lead & Direct – Provide technical leadership, ensuring efforts align with AI integration, scalability, and company goals.
2. Architect & Build – Design and implement AI-driven web applications using modern frameworks like React, TypeScript, and APIs.
3. Drive AI Integration – Develop and embed AI solutions for content generation, automation, and ML workflows.
4. Work with Modern AI Tools – Utilize tools such as Crew.AI, Cursor.AI, OpenAI, LangChain, vector databases, and prompt engineering.
5. Cross-Team Collaboration – Partner with multiple engineering teams to ensure alignment and early risk identification.
6. Problem-Solve & Align – Make decisions balancing business needs, scalability, and developer experience.
7. Guide & Influence – Lead technical discussions and influence architecture and AI strategy.
8. Communicate Clearly – Explain complex AI and engineering concepts to diverse stakeholders.
9. Document & Diagram – Produce technical documentation and architectural diagrams for long-term maintainability.
