Job summary

Akkodis is seeking a Principal Data Governance Architect to lead enterprise-wide data governance strategy, metadata management, and data intelligence initiatives. You will partner with business leaders, technology teams, and data stakeholders to shape governance and enable data-driven decision making.

The role focuses on implementing metadata strategies, data catalogs, glossaries, and data lineage, while driving ownership and accountability across domains.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, Data Stewardship, or related disciplines.
• 5+ years of experience with enterprise data governance platforms such as Collibra, Informatica, Alation, or similar tools.
• Strong understanding of metadata management, data lineage, business glossaries, data catalogs, and data quality frameworks.
• Experience influencing and communicating with executive leadership, technical teams, and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead the enterprise data governance roadmap to ensure assets are discoverable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable.
• Define and implement metadata management, data catalog, glossary, data dictionary, and data lineage strategies.
• Translate business needs into scalable governance solutions with stakeholders and technical teams.
• Establish data ownership, stewardship, and accountability frameworks across domains.
• Oversee governance platforms and data intelligence tools, ensuring metadata accuracy and platform adoption.
• Partner with data, analytics, and technology teams to support cloud-based architectures and governance best practices.
• Facilitate governance councils, working groups, and executive reporting to advance governance maturity.

Pay: $145-165k; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

A leading global organization is seeking a Principal Data Governance Architect to drive enterprise-wide data governance strategy, metadata management, and data intelligence initiatives. This is a highly visible leadership role that will partner with business leaders, technology teams, and data stakeholders to shape the future of data governance and enable data-driven decision making across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the enterprise data governance roadmap, ensuring data assets are discoverable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable.
• Define and implement metadata management, data catalog, business glossary, data dictionary, and data lineage strategies.
• Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, translating business needs into scalable governance solutions.
• Drive governance initiatives across multiple business domains while establishing data ownership, stewardship, and accountability frameworks.
• Oversee governance platforms and data intelligence tools, ensuring metadata accuracy and platform adoption.
• Partner with enterprise data, analytics, and technology teams to support modern cloud-based data architectures and governance best practices.
• Facilitate governance councils, working groups, and executive reporting to promote governance maturity across the organization.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science, Analytics, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, Data Stewardship, or related disciplines.
• 5+ years of experience with enterprise data governance platforms such as Collibra, Informatica, Alation, or similar tools.
• Strong understanding of metadata management, data lineage, business glossaries, data catalogs, and data quality frameworks.
• Experience influencing and communicating with executive leadership, technical teams, and business stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Collibra administration, architecture, and implementation.
• Knowledge of Azure Databricks, Unity Catalog, Snowflake, SQL Server, Azure Data Platforms, and Power BI.
• Working knowledge of SQL and modern cloud-native data architectures.
• Experience with ETL/ELT processes, master data management (MDM), and data privacy regulations.
• Familiarity with Python, data automation, and governance integrations via APIs.
