Arcadis seeks a Principal Water/Wastewater Conveyance Engineer in Texas (San Antonio or Austin) to lead a team focused on water and wastewater conveyance design and construction support. Responsibilities

• Oversee project budgets and delivery schedules, leading project teams to ensure all deliverables are met
• Provide technical leadership throughout planning, design, and construction phases of water and wastewater systems, lift stations, and pumping stations
• Prepare construction documents, develop specifications, and manage construction oversight and administration
• Support client development activities, positioning and capture strategies, and contributions to proposal and presentation efforts for Water/Wastewater Conveyance Design projects
• Collaborate with Area Leaders and client Account Leaders to define project scopes and fee estimates, manage risks, identify staff, and ensure profitable delivery
• Coordinate with Arcadis’ technical advisors in hydraulic modeling and facility design, and contribute to strategic planning with clients
• Mentor junior engineers and staff, ensure compliance with Arcadis practices, quality, and safety standards

Role description

Arcadis is currently seeking a Principal Water/Wastewater Conveyance Engineer in our San Antonio, TX or Austin, TX officesto help us lead a team and grow their expertise and technical knowledge of water/wastewater conveyance design and construction support services. The Principal Water/Wastewater Conveyance Engineer will be a critical member of our team and will be expected to execute and manage projects, engage in client development and winning more exciting and challenging projects throughout the Texas market.

Role accountabilities

As a Principal Water/Wastewater Conveyance Engineer, you will manage a diverse portfolio of projects for various clients across the region, coordinating multi-disciplined engineering teams to deliver outstanding results.

• Oversee project budgets and delivery schedules, leading project teams to ensure all deliverables are met
• Provide technical leadership throughout the planning, design, and construction phases of water and wastewater, distribution and collection systems, lift stations and pumping stations.
• Prepare construction documents, developing specifications, and managing construction oversight and administration.
• Client development activities, supporting positioning and capture strategies, and contributing to proposal and presentation efforts for Water/Wastewater Conveyance Design projects.
• Collaborate with Area Leaders and client Account Leaders to define project scopes and fee estimates, manage risks, identify project staff, and ensure projects are set up for successful and profitable delivery.
• Coordinate with Arcadis’ industry-leading technical advisors in water and wastewater hydraulic modeling and facility design, and contribute to strategic planning with clients for water/wastewater treatment plants, stormwater systems, distribution and collection systems, and pump/lift stations.
• Mentor junior engineers and technical staff, support the work of others, and ensure compliance with all Arcadis practices, quality, and safety standards.

Local travel of up to 10% is required for project site visits, client meetings, and business development activities.

Key Skills & Attributes

The ideal candidate possesses a strong technical engineering background and has demonstrated experience successfully delivering water and wastewater conveyance design projects. They have a proven track record in client development, including pursuing proposals and participating in interviews to secure new projects. Additionally, they are skilled in delivering technical presentations and contributing effectively during project pursuit interviews. Highly organized with a keen attention to detail, the candidate is flexible and able to collaborate with various project teams both locally and across remote offices, consistently delivering high-quality work products to clients. They also bring experience in negotiating, managing, and successfully delivering projects.

Required Qualifications

• 12 or more years of related industry experience in the water/wastewater field.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or related field.
• PE License in Texas (or ability to obtain TX PE within 6 months).

Preferred Qualifications

• 20+ years of related industry experience.
• Master’s Degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or related field.

Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
