Job summary

Landau Associates in Olympia, WA is seeking a Principal Water Resources Engineer or Hydrogeologist (WA or OR) to lead water resources projects, mentor staff, and develop new client relationships. This full-time role offers employee ownership, a flexible hybrid schedule, and engagement with a collaborative, mission-driven team.

You will analyze hydrologic and hydrogeologic data, design groundwater systems and water-source projects, and support regulatory permitting in WA, OR, and ID, while

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in water supply, hydrogeology, water rights, and project management in WA, OR, or ID
• Strong knowledge of regional geology and local regulations including WA/OR water rights
• Proven ability to manage projects, write, market, and communicate effectively
• Willingness to conduct occasional site visits and travel as needed
• Valid driver’s license

• Serve as a trusted advisor to clients and build long-term relationships

What You’ll Do

As a senior member of the water resources team, you will have the opportunity to:

• Lead and manage water resource projects from concept to proposal to execution
• Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, building long-term relationships
• Identify new clients and lead business development for water resources opportunities
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to team development
• Analyze and interpret hydrologic, hydrogeologic, and water quality data
• Assist with the design of supply wells, aquifer storage and recovery, and ground source heat pump injection well systems
• Provide senior level technical review on a wide range of water supply development, water rights permitting, and hydrogeologic evaluation deliverables
• Prepare and provide senior review of technical reports and regulatory documentation
• Lead water rights assessments, transfers, and applications in WA, OR, and ID

What We’re Looking For

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in hydrogeology, geology, engineering, or a related field
• 15+ years of relevant experience in water supply, hydrogeology, water rights, and project management in WA, OR, or ID
• Expertise in the regional geology, hydrogeology, and local regulations, including familiarity with Washington and Oregon water rights and/or hydrogeologic settings
• Strong project management, writing, marketing, and communication skills
• Strong understanding of the water resources business market and clients in WA and OR
• Client relationships that are likely to lead to successful business development
• Ability to conduct occasional site visits
• Valid Driver’s License

Preferred:

• Professional licensure (e.g., LHG, LG/RG, PE, CWRE)
• Experience mentoring and training staff and willingness to manage junior technical staff
• Experience with groundwater and/or surface water modeling
